ASA LETTER OF APPRECIATION

And a fitting ender to the rounds of festivities for the 50th Anniversary of UP High 1950, an excerpt from Atty. Leon Asa’s letter of appreciation. It is a sad thing that he is no longer with us for our 60th anniversary.

RIGOR-AUSTRIA CHARITY

Sometime in 2002, Tom Rigor and Roger Austria (both of UP High 1950 North America Chapter) joined other civic-spirited individuals who funded well-known surgeon and 1950 classmate Dr. Marcelino Reysio-Cruz’s cleft lip/palate project in Palawan. In gratitude, 50 patient-beneficiaries and their parents posed for photos with the banner “Salamat, UP High Class 1950”. The following year, Roger and his friends in the Rizal MacArthur Memorial Foundation of Milwaukee sent Marce 10 balikbayan boxes of operating instruments and medical supplies for Marce’s subsequent operation projects.
As Roger puts it: “As our twilight years begin to dawn upon us, we would like to find ways by which we can leave this world a much better place than we found it – albeit in modest ways.”
